GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has asked the Panchayat and Rural Development Department (P&RD) to immediately provide job cards under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) to interested migrant workers who have returned from other states. The special directives chief minister Sonowal has issued for the employment of the migrant workers include:
- P&RD department to immediately issue job cards under MGNREGA to interested workers.
- Skill Development Department to organise necessary training to enhance workers’ skill.
- Measures for skill identification through digital platforms and training at block level.
- Industries and Commerce Department to make district wise list/status of MSMEs to provide optimum benefit of the Rs 20 lakh crore financial package announced by PM Narendra Modi.
- Finance Department to discuss with the banks means to provide loans to migrant workers seeking to engage in productive activities.
