GUWAHATI: Assam’s COVID-19 caseload mounted to 5,33,663 on Sunday as 1,579 people tested positive for the infection while 16 fresh fatalities, the National Health Mission bulletin said.

Jorhat district reported the highest number of cases at 185, followed by 180 in Golaghat, 150 in Kamrup Metro, and 103 in Sonitpur.
The current death rate is 0.90 percent and the number of deaths due to other causes is 1,347.
The state now has 19,972 active cases and 5,07,516 people have recovered from the infection.
The new cases were detected out of 97,257 tests conducted during the day.
