Assam quake: Six aftershocks felt

GUWAHATI: At least six aftershocks were felt in the State after a massive 6.7 –magnitude earthquake shook Assam at 7:51 a.m. The first aftershock was felt at 8:03 a.m. The last one hit the State at 10:39 a.m. The other tremors were felt at 8:13 a.m., 8:13 a.m., 8:25 a.m.,  8:44 a.m. and 10: 5 a.m. 

According to the National Centre for Seismology, out of the total 7 tremors, the epicenters of the six were in Sonitpur district. The epicenter of 10: 5 a.m. quake was in Nagaon.

Sharing the information, Assam health, finance and education minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “There has been at least 6 aftershocks felt in Assam since the massive 6.7 magnitude earthquake shook the state at 7.51 am. Of the total 7 tremors, the epicenter of 6 was in Sonitpur district and one in Nagaon district.”
