Assam Police to register cases of attempt to murder against SOP violators: DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta

GUWAHATI: Assam Police DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta on Wednesday in a press meet asked the people of Assam to strictly follow all the rules of the new SOP. If anyone is found violating the rules, strict actions including ‘attempt to murder’ case will be registered against such violators.

Speaking about the Shopkeepers violating SOP, Mahanta Said, “Reports are coming of people closing shops from the front and working from inside, such shopkeepers will be in deep trouble and booked under NDMA act.”

Those found organizing a private function, party, violating the SOP will be treated as a betrayal against society and will be booked under ‘Attempt to murder’ like charges.

“Attempt to murder case-like charges will be faced by those organizing private function, party, get together,” the DGP added.

“Containment zones will be Zero tolerance zone. No drama would be tolerated in such places. Many people use Covid-19 excuses to come out, If such people are caught and found violating the SOP rules in any sense they will be jailed.

No crowding will be tolerated outside any building, shopping complex, markets. Police may lathi charge in such cases even during relaxation period(05:00 AM -01:00 PM),” Mahanta further said.
