GUWAHATI: Former Assam Police DIG PK Dutta, the main accused in the SI recruitment scam, has been arrested in Nepal.
According to sources, a special team of Police and CID arrested PK Dutta. He is being brought to Assam and could reach Guwahati by tonight.
Former Assam DIG P.K Dutta who is said to be the main mastermind in the leakage of the question paper was on the run.
After huge public outcry, Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal ordered a swift investigation as a result of which PK Dutta has been finally reported arrested in Nepal.
The Assam Police investigating team besides raiding Dutta’s residence at Rupkonwar Path in Hengrabari also raided his many hotels and properties in Guwahati and Dibrugarh.
Another main accused Former BJP leader Diban Deka surrendered before the Police and is being interrogated at the Assam Police SB Branch in Guwahati.
The Assam Police Sub Inspector recruitment examination had to be canceled after the alleged leak of the question paper on social media.
