Assam Police crackdown against Drugs Mafia in Nagaon


Guwahati: After the service pistol of an Assam Police personnel was snatched during a drive against Drugs mafia in Nagaon, the police has launched a massive operation to nab the culprits. The incident happened near Mohkhuli, Nagaon where acting on a tip-off, the Assam Police had launched an operation.

Earlier, police officials of Rupahihat Police Station had nabbed a drug peddler named Ashiq Ikbal Choudhary along with 79 cartoons of illegal drugs from Rupahi Tiniali, Nagaon. The police interrogated him and received information about a particular drug deal.

A police team in civil dress had gone to investigate the matter at M I Enterprise located at Mohkhuli.

According to reports, during the operation the gang members pulled down the shutters and attacked the Assam Police team. One of the gang members snatched a 9 mm service pistol from a police official Biplob Konwar also injuring one police constable Lakhyajyoti Bora.

Immediately a massive crackdown was launched by the Assam Police and drug mafia Lokman Ali, Amir Hamzaa and 30 persons have been detained for further interrogation. Meanwhile, police hasn’t recovered the 9 mm pistol that was snatched away from the official.
