Barpeta: A Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) -an Islamic terrorist organization- cadre was nabbed by the Assam Police on Wednesday evening in Barpeta district.
The apprehended cadre has been identified as Ajar Ali alias Ajaharuddin. He has been absconding for the last five years. Ajar Ali hails from Tarabari area under Barpeta district.
It is to be noted that Ajar Ali has been involved with JMB for a few years now and is a trained militant.
Assam Police was keeping a close watch on Ajar Ali’s activities for a long time, and had increased their surveillance in recent days. After receiving specific inputs about him the police arrested him.
Meanwhile, the JMB cadre has been sent to 7 days of police custody.
