Assam Police arrests another accused student Subrajit Baruah in connection with Dibrugarh University ragging incident

Guwahati: Assam Police arrested another accused in the Dibrugarh University ragging incident on Tuesday night.

The arrested accused student has been identified as Subhrajit Baruah.

He was arrested from Tingkhong in Assam’s Dibrugarh district.

Baruah was absconding after his name was involved in the ragging incident of Dibrugarh University student Anand Sarma.

Meanwhile, a total of 22 students from the university have been temporarily suspended from the University for their alleged involvement in the ragging case.

Notably, Anand Sharma, an M. Com 1st semester student and a resident of PNGB hostel was tortured and beaten up by some students of the University. Unable to bear the inhuman torture, Anand had jumped from the second floor of the hostel on Saturday night. He is battling for his life in ICU.

So far, the Assam police have arrested three students of the university in the ragging case identified as Simanta Hazarika, Niranjan Thak and Pranjit Baruah.

Meanwhile, the main accused identified as Rahul Chetri is still at large.
