Assam: North East Frontier Railway cancels 6 trains

GUWAHATI: The North East Frontier Railway has cancelled a total of 6 railway services in Assam due to low ticket occupancy.  

The trains that have been cancelled include:

> 12086 Shatabdi Express that was scheduled to leave on 20 March, 23 March, 25 March, 27 March and 30 March. The train will remain cancelled between Dibrugarh- Guwahati.

>12088 Shatabdi Express scheduled to leave on 20 March, 23 March, 25 March, 27 March and 30 March. The train will remain cancelled between Guwahati-Naharlagun.

> 12087 Shatabdi Express scheduled to leave on 21 March, 24 March, 26 March, 28 March and 31 March between Naharlagun-Guwahati will remain cancelled.

>12085 Shatabdi Express that was earlier scheduled to leave on 21 March, 24 March, 26 March, 28 March and 31 March will also remain cancelled between Guwahati-Dibrugarh.

>Two Intercity Express that runs between Dibrugarh-Murkongselek and Murkongselek-Dibrugarh services have also been cancelled.

“Two pairs of Shatabdi Express that run between from Dibrugarh- Guwahati, Guwahati-Dibrugarh and other pairs that run between Naharlagun-Guwahati, Guwahati-Naharlagun have been cancelled from 20 March -31 March,” said Nripen Bhattacharyya, public relations officer NFR in a telephonic interview. 

Bhattacharyya added,” The trains have been cancelled due to low occupancy. It may be because of the fear of Coronavirus among people but we are not sure. One more pair that have been cancelled is the Intercity Express, that runs between Dibrugarh-Murkongselek and Murkongselek-Dibrugarh.”
