Assam: No trace of 16 Tablighi Jamaat attendees from Sonitpur

GUWAHATI: There is no trace of 16 people from Assam’s Sonitpur district who attended Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi which sparked a wave of Coronavirus cases across the country.

Sonitpur deputy commissioner (DC) Manabendra Pratap Singh said that 39 people from Sonitpur district had attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz. Among them, 10 people have been identified by the authorities and tested negative for Coronavirus.

According to sources, at Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, necessary medical steps are being taken for 13 attendees from Sonitpur. However, there is no trace of other 16 people from the district who had attended the religious event which has emerged as the hostpot of Coronavirus cases in Assam and other parts of the country.

On the other hand, in Arunachal Pradesh, a man who attended the Tablighi Jamaat was found Coronavirus positive on Thursday. As Sonitpur shares its borders with Arunachal Pradesh, it has also emerged as a matter of concern for the residents of the district.
