Guwahati: In a tragic incident, a 28-year-old man at Numaligarh in Assam’s Golaghat district was trampled to death by herd of wild elephants on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Aghnu Karuwa, residence of Doigrung in Numaligarh.
According to sources, the deceased family noticed that Aghnu did not return home after they had dinner last night, so they went out looking for him.
Meanwhile, a neighbour informed them that Aghnu had been found dead on the road near a forest area.
The herd of elephants was still around when the body was found, sources said.
However, forest officials reached the spot and recovered the body and sent it for post mortem.
