Assam: Man from Barpeta uses ‘Piggy Bank’ savings to buy new scooter

Guwahati: A small time shopkeeper, Hafizur Akand’s dream of riding his own two-wheeler came true this week when he finally stepped into a two wheeler showroom at Howly town in Barpeta district and rode out in a two wheeler a few days back.

The main plot revolves around his savings, which he kept in a ‘Piggy Bank.’ His 7-month coin collecting assisted him in purchasing a scooter from Alpana Suzuki Dealers. 

By saving coins worth the value of Rs one, Rs two and Rs 10 coins for almost a year, Hafizur has managed to save around Rs 22,000 which he spent on the down payment for his scooter.

Recently, he collected all his coins and reached the two wheeler showroom to get his dream bike. The staff of the showroom reportedly took almost four hours to count them.

For Hafizur who hails from the district’s Gobordhona area, buying a two wheeler for himself was nothing less than an ambitious plan and for which he had started saving coins for over a year now.

His amazing story is now inspiring people online.
