Assam: Lockdown violated in Tinsukia market

PUBLISHED:

GUWAHATI: With no regards for social distancing and lockdown rules, every morning people in large number throng a market in Tinsukia. People gather at Swahid Piyoli Phukan Maidan defying the government’s directives in terms of ongoing 21-day nationwide lockdown amid Coronavirus crisis.

According to the reports, buyers and sellers throng the market from around 5 AM to 8.30 AM to buy vegetables. Though some of the vendors in the market are given government passes by the district administration, they are showing reluctance to maintain the social distancing mandate.

People in large number gather in the market without the minimum social distance of 1 meter and other preventive measures against COVID19. At the time when COVID19 pandemic has threatened the public health across the globe, carelessness of these people have emerged as a matter of grave concern.
