Guwahati: Amid a statewide furore over massive and seemingly unending hours of load-shedding by the Assam Power department, State Power Minister Nandita Gorlosa Sunday assured commuters that the power scene will improve in the next 10-odd days.
Long hours of load-shedding resorted to by the power department have compounded people’s summer woes. And the steep rise in mercury level in the past many days has only made matters worse for people resulting in protests against the power cuts.
“There has been power failure in some transmissions in the Sisuram area which has created problems for the rest of Assam. We are working on it and we will definitely overcome the problems. There have been some technical snaps and we will get them resolved soon,” Gorlosa said in Guwahati.
“Power department employees are working to restore electricity and within the next 10 days the load shedding issue will be resolved,” she added.
The Power Department has been resorting to long hours of load-shedding fuelling protests against the department and Gorlosa — who had taken over as the State Power Minister in the recently-held reshuffle of the State cabinet — in various parts of the State.
