Assam: HSLC exams begin from today

PUBLISHED:

The High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations 2024, conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) began today from 9 am.

The examinations will conclude on March 4, 2024.

As many as 4,25,966 students across the state are appearing for HSLC examinations.

It may be mentioned here that for the first time this year, Optical mark Recognition (OMR) sheets will be used in four subjects.

This innovative approach will allocate 50% percent of the total marks to objective-type questions, each carrying one mark.

Objective questions in core subjects such as English, General Mathematics, General Science, and Social Science will now contribute 50% of the total marks, with one OMR sheet allocated per candidate.

SEBA is also focusing on the eligibility criteria for students appearing in the HSLC Examination in 2024. According to the revised criteria, students who appeared in Unit Test-1 (except those who were unsuccessful in the HSLC Examination in 2023) and maintain regular attendance in classes will be eligible to participate in subsequent examinations, including Unit Test-II, Half-Yearly Examination, and Pre-Board Examination.

For candidates who were unsuccessful in the HSLC Examination in 2023 but have been re-admitted to Class-X, there are specific requirements. They must attend classes regularly and participate in Half-Yearly Examination, Unit Test-II, and Pre-Board Examination to be eligible for the HSLC Examination in 2024.
