GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta on Thursday visited Seuj Kumar Senapati, the doctor who was assaulted by a mob in Hojai district following death of a COVID-19 patient.
Minister Mahanta met Dr Senapatai at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) where he is undergoing treatment.

The doctor on Covid-19 duty at the Udali Covid care was assaulted by a mob comprising the relatives and friends of a patient who died on Tuesday afternoon. He was kicked and thrashed with brooms and utensils by the mob at the COVID care centre. The incident came to light after a video of the assault was shared widely on social media.
Meanwhile, police acted promptly and arrested all the accused in the case.
Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma instructed the police to file charge sheet within a month.
