Assam has sufficient PPE kits, Himanta Biswa Sarma refutes Ripun Bora’s allegation

GUWAHATI: Refuting Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APPC) president Ripun Bora’s allegation that Assam has been facing shortage of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kits, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Bora had misquoted a bulletin of National Health Mission (NHM), Assam.

“We have sufficient PPE kits, surgical masks and gloves and other equipment for frontline healthcare professionals,” Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said in a press meet in Guwahati on Friday.

Dr. Sarma stated that currently there are 2,000 PPE kits at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), 1,000 at Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), Dibrugarh, 1,000 at Jorhat Medical College and Hospital (JMCH), 1,000 at Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College and Hospital (FAMCH), Barpeta, 1,000 at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH), 1,000 at Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) and 500 at Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati.

He also appealed Congress leader Bora not to resort to politics at this hour off crisis.
