Assam Govt to ramp-up COVID-19 vaccination

GUWAHATI: The Assam government will ramp-up COVID-19 vaccination in the next 10 days.

Assam chief minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday chaired a video conference with the deputy commissioners, superintendents of police, join directors of health services, principals of medical colleges and health minister to discuss vaccination in the state.

The chief minister asked the district administration to strive to achieve the target of 3 lakh vaccination everyday, from June 21 to June 30, in the state.

The other key-points from the meeting are:

All guardian ministers & secretaries to camp at their respective districts for the next seven days to ensure maximum vaccination.

Central Govt will provide #COVID19 vaccines to 18+ people free of cost. There will be no separate category based on age for vaccination.

State Government will provide an assistance of Rs 100/day to vaccination workers for transportation cost & other expenses.

There will be 2K vaccination centres across Assam.

In urban areas vaccination will continue from 8 am to 8 pm, in two shifts. In Rural areas, it will be from 8 am to 1 pm.

At every vaccination centre there will be a designated worker to help in on-the-spot registrations

Urged Health Dept to maximise publicity to bring maximum people to vaccination centres.

Appealed to NGOs & social organisations including political workers to motivate people to take part in the vaccination drive.

All govt & private sector employees including the shopkeepers etc should come forward for vaccination at the earliest to be able to join their workplaces soon.

Directed officials to ensure targeting vulnerable pockets like tea garden as well for vaccination.
