GUWAHATI: The Assam Government is going to help the people from the state who are stranded in other parts of the country and are left with little or no money amid COVID19 lockdown. Stranded people needing help will have to give a Missed Call to 9615471547.

Addressing a press meet in Guwahati, Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “At this hour it is not possible to bring them back. We are going to help only poor and lower-middle class working people stranded outside the state. They will have to give a Missed Call to 9615471547.”

However, people with sound economic background will not get the financial aid.

After giving the Missed Call, the person will get a message with a link. If they do not respond within 24 hours, the volunteers will get back to them to collect the necessary information. The financial help will be provided after the verification of the deputy commissioners of the concerned districts.

On the other hand, Students of Cotton University and Assam Engineering College and Piramal Foundation roped in for compilation of data base of stranded people from the State seeking help.
