Assam Govt to give three bighas of land to indigenous landless families

Guwahati: According to a new land policy of the Assam Government, three bighas of land will be given to landless indigenous families for agricultural purpose.

After a long discussion the Assam government on Monday approved this new land policy. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Janata Bhawan.

The government also decided to provide half-a-bigha of land for landless indigenous families of Assam to construct their houses. These lands can’t be sold for a term of 15 years. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana selected landless indigenous families will also receive a onetime amount of Rs 50,000.
