Assam Govt issues news SOP for incoming air-train passengers

GUWAHATI: The Assam government has issued new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the incoming air and train passengers.

According to an order issued by principal secretary to the health department Samir K Sinha, any person who has undergone a RT-PCR COVID-19 test within a period of 72 hours prior to his/her arrival in Assam and his/her test result is negative, is not required to undergo the mandatory COVID-19 test or quarantine in Assam.

“This exemption is subject to production of satisfactory documents and verification of the test result on the ICMR portal,” stated the order.

On the other hand, any person who travels to any location outside Assam and returns back to the state within 24 hours of the departure, needs not to undergo testing or quarantine, informed health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at a press meet in Guwahati on Saturday.

The children below the age of 10 years are also exempted from tests and quarantine if the child is asymptomatic.

Similarly, foreign dignitaries, diplomats belonging to any embassy or diplomatic mission in India on an official visit, officials of multilateral funding agencies like World Bank, ADB, JICA and others on an official visit, officials of investigation/ intelligence agencies such as National Investigation Agency, Central Bureau of Investigation, Enforcement Directorate, Intelligence Bureau etc. on official/ covert visit, officials of Income Tax Department on official visits are exempted from COVID-19 testing and quarantine.
