Assam: Govt employees caught red-handed while accepting bribe

In a swift action initiated upon receiving inputs, the sleuths of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption trapped and arrested an government employee from Jorhat while accepting bribe money from the complainant.

Accordingly, a trap was laid today,  wherein a team from the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, reached the Treasury Office in Jorhat.

The accused person identified as Moonmoon Sen, Junior Accounts Assistant of the Treasury Office in Jorhat, was caught red handed, immediately after she accepted Rs. 2,000/- (two thousand only) as bribe from the complainant for processing pay bills.

The tainted bribe money has been recovered from his possession and has been seized in presence of independent witnesses.

In this connection, a case was registered in ACB Police Station on 14/03/2024 vide ACB P.S. Case No. 23/2024, under Section 7(a) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The official has been taken into custody and necessary follow-up is being initiated into the case.

In another case of corruption,  the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti-Corruption, Assam trapped and arrested a Home Guard identified as Sukur Ali from Dhula police station in Darang district.

As per information, Ali was trapped red-handed by the sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Cell on Thursday while accepting bribe from the complainant for giving relief in a case.

Finding sufficient evidence against Ali, has been arrested in connection with the case.
