Assam Government to ease many lockdown restrictions from April 21

GUWAHATI:  The Assam Government is likely to ease various lockdown rules from April 21. However there is no possibility of relaxation in the districts falling under the Red Zone. There are five districts under Red Zone in Assam—Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Nalbari and Morigaon as considerable number of COVID-19 cases reported from these districts.

Various departments of the Assam Secretariat will start functioning from April 21 adhering to some conditions.

The head of the administrative department must ensure that officers of the rank of deputy secretary and above shall attend office regularly. Maximum33% of the staff of Grade-Ill and Grade-IV categories of the department as per requirement shall attend office on a rotation basis as on requirement basis. All employees will have to wear a mask and follow the guidelines to sanitize themselves in order to stop the spread of Coronavirus disease.

Vegetables, Fruits, Fish and Meat sales may be allowed to as per the government’s direction.

Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said,”From 21 April the guidelines provided by the central government will be followed and according to the guidelines schools and colleges will be closed, transportation services including bus, train flight will stay shut. Except for a few shops, all other shops and businesses will stay shut.”

Farmers will be allowed to carry out agricultural activities from April 21. Wholesale vegetable markets likely to be opened. Shops and Business that deals on products used for farming will be opened. Farming related vehicles will be allowed to move.

Tea gardens, Rubber gardens, can start work with only 50 percent of employees.

Road construction in villages will be allowed.

Highway Dhaba and truck garage will be allowed to carry on their work.

Essential and non-essential goods movement will be allowed.

Health services across the state will start operation from 21 April.
