GUWAHATI: Eighteen persons from Golaghat district in Assam tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday morning. All the patients had returned from Chennai by train and were under quarantine at Maheshwari Bhavan in Golaghat town.

The patients have been shifted to the COVID-19 hospital from quarantine centre.

“They came by Shramik Special train from Chennai. They reached Golaghat 3 days ago. We would like to appeal to the people of Golaghat to not panic as all of them were under quarantine,” said an official.

On the other hand a doctor said, “They are all young. They have enough immunity power. So there is nothing to worry.”

In a recent development, 35 more people from Golaghat have tested positive for COVID-19. So far the district has reported 53 cases in single day.
