Assam Footballer Apurna Narzary selected for U-19 India women team

Guwahati: Assam footballer Apurna Narzary has been selected for the India Under-19 Women’s National Football Team for the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) U-19 Women’s Championship 2021 to be held in Bangladesh.

“Heartiest congratulations to our very own Apurna Narzary for getting selected in the India U-19 Women’s National Football Team for the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship, 2021 to be held in Bangladesh. My best wishes,” Assam Sports Minister Bimal Borah said in a tweet.

The teams, which will participate in the championship are India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Bhutan.

SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship 2021 has started from 11 December and will end on 22 December.

The ongoing match is being played at at Bir Sherestha Shaheed Shapahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Dhaka.

India is slated to play Sri Lanka on December 13, before taking on Bhutan on December 15, Bangladesh on December 17 and Nepal on December 19 in a round-robin format.

The top two sides will face each other in the final, which will take place on December 22.
