GUWAHATI : The third edition of Khelo India Youth Games concluded on Wednesday (22 January)
with a colourful closing ceremony in Guwahati.
In the 13-day sporting event Assam finished seventh with a total of 76 medals, that includes 20 gold, 22 silver and 34 bronze.
Players from Assam won 5 medals in Athletics, 2 medals in Badminton, 19 in Boxing, 7 in Cycling, 2 in Football, 4 in Gymnastics, 3 in Judo, 10 in Lawn Bown, 1 medal in Shooting, 14 medals in Swimming, 1 in Tennis and 8 in Weightlifting.
Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal said that Khelo India Youth Games generated a ray of hope in the sports field in India. He asked all the players to aim for winning medals at the upcoming Olympic Games.
During the closing ceremony, Assam’s rich cultural heritage was showcased through a beautiful dance performance by Assamese actress Aimee Baruah.

Bollywood singer Shaan mesmerized the audience with his spectacular performance in the evening. Other performances were topped up by Assamese singer, Krishnamoni Chutia, Bihu dance by Pankaj Engti and other performances by Tarulata Kutum, Sajan Nayak, Babita Sharma and many more.
