Guwahati: In an initiative to combat COVID-19, Assam Excise Minister Parimal Suklabaidya on Thursday announced that 5 lakh litres of Hand Sanitizer will be supplied free of charge to the Assam health Department.
Minister Suklabaidya along with the Excise Commissioner have taken this decision as a major supporting step to provide Hand Santizers to the Assam Health Department. The sanitizers will be prepared at the state liquor producing units.
According to Parimal Suklabaidya, more than 5 lakh litres of hand sanitizers will be supplied free as a part of CSR activities by liquor companies of Assam. Of now, 11 companies have already started with the production of hand sanitizers in Assam.
As per estimates, around 5 crore bottles of 200 ml sanitizers are required to the Assam Health department and that will be supplied free of cost by these units in Assam .
Meanwhile, these santizers will be produced following the guidelines set up by WHO, Essential Commodities Act and Drugs & Cosmetics Act,1940.
The main objective of this production of Sanitizers is to curb the menace of fake santizers in the market.
The Excise Department has also taken steps to supply santitizers to neighboring Manipur and Nagaland.
