GUWAHATI: The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) party led by Badruddin Ajmal won in a total of 16 seats out of the 24 seats they contested. AIUDF contested in 24 seats where 21 seats as an ally of the Congress-led grand alliance and the remaining 3 other seats in a friendly manner.
Assam has a 126-member assembly and 64 seats are needed for a simple majority.
The Counting of votes began at 8 AM on Sunday morning. Assam voted in three phases on March 27, April 1 and April 6.
