GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Wednesday took stock of the situation at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district following a 6.7-magnitude earthquake that struck the state in the morning.
Sonowal visited Tarajan Bangali, a village near the epicenter of the earthquake.
The massive quake caused damages in the village and neighbouring areas.
The chief minister assured all the possible help to the affected people.
“Visited the Tarajan Bangali village in Dhekiajuli, a site near the epicentre of the earthquake and took stock of the situation. The morning tremors have affected the village and neighbouring areas. We are with the people at all times. I urged everyone not to panic and stay alert,” Sonowal tweeted.

On his way to Dhekiajuli, CM Sonowal also visited Sirajuli Model Hospital to assess damages caused due to the earthquake.
