Assam: Drug peddler injured in Assam police firing

Guwahati: A drug peddler was injured during an encounter with Assam police in Nagaon district on Thursday morning.

The injured drug peddler has been identified as Sajiul Islam, who tried to escape from police custody and was shot in the leg.

Islam was re-arrested in a drug peddling case after he managed to get bail. He hailed from Batadrava in Nagaon.

Police has also recovered drugs worth Rs 9 lakh and arms and ammunition from his possession.

Nagaon police took Twitter to inform about the development. They wrote, “Notorious & Charge Sheeted Drug supplier Siajul Islam of Kodomonigaon, Batadrava had managed to secure Bail. Today morning he got Injured and Re-Arrested after a brief encounter. Drugs worth 9+ Lakh and .22 pistol with 4 Rounds seized.”
