Assam: Dibrugarh murderer killed in gunfight with Police

GUWAHATI: In a fierce gunfight that lasted around 3 hours, Dibrugarh Police killed Sanjay Das, the man who had shot dead his wife, son and a relative on Monday morning. The gunfight took place at an abandoned house of the department of fisheries from around 12 AM to 3 AM on Tuesday.

According to reports, Sanjay started firing at cops when police cordoned-off the house and asked him to surrender. In retaliation, police resorted to firing and killed the murderer.

The operation was led by Dibrugarh superintendent of police (SP) Sreejith T and additional superintendent of police (ASP) Padmanabh Bora.

Sanjay, a retired SSB jawan shot and killed his wife Swapna Das, 21-year-old son Nabajyoti Das and his maternal uncle Ghankanta Hazarika on Monday morning with a .32 pistol. He fled with his weapon after committing the crime.
