GUWAHATI: In a brutal incident a man shot dead his wife, 21-year-old son and a relative at Sukanpukhuri in upper Assam’s Dibrugarh town. According to reports, Sanjay Das, a retired SSB Jawan first shot at his wife Swapna Das and his 21-year-old son Nabajyoti Das on Monday morning. Later Sanjay shot his maternal uncle Ghanakanta Hazarika at his residence in Kumaranichiga area. The man fled from the scene after committing the crime.
Though all the victims were immediately rushed to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH), trio succumbed to their injuries.
Meanwhile, Dibrugarh superintendent of police (SP) arrived on the spot and started investigation.
“According to local people he must be an alcoholic. We suspect that a licensed .32 pistol was used,” said Dibrugarh SP. Police has launched a massive manhunt for accused Sanjay.
Local people also revealed that the killer Sanjay Das was addicted to alcohol and gambling.
On the other hand, Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan arrived on the spot and said, “It is an unfortunate incident. I hope such incidents will not repeat in coming days.”
The brutal incident has created sensation in the entire district.
