Assam DGP requests residents to share information on Guwahati violence

Guwahati, Dec 19: Director General of Assam Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta has requested the residents of Guwahati to provide images, videos or any other supporting evidences regarding the violence and hooliganism during anti-CAA protests.

Speaking to media persons in Guwahati, Mahanta said that citizens can share the information anonymously. Assam Police have already started receiving inputs through a designated phone number-03612381511.

“I request the people of Guwahati to share any information, may it be video, images or any other detail with us to help nab these miscreants. We are already receiving CCTV footages, video footages from the public. We have set up a team comprising of computer experts to centrally analyse these inputs,” informed the DGP.

DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta further stated that 2 Special Investigation Teams (SIT) and a Special Supervision Task Force (SSTF) have been set-up and sent to the districts to expedite the investigation process.

“Over the past few days, 215 cases have been registered and 329 people have been detained in connection with the violence during the anti-CAA protests,” Mahanta added.
