GUWAHATI: Assam health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) on Monday where the two COVID19 positive patients from Barak Valley are being treated.
Minister Sarma arrived in the medical college to enquire about the health status of the two patients—one each from Cachar and Karimganj district. He also reviewed the preparations for treatment of the patients for Coronavirus.
Assam’s first Coronavirus patient, a 52-year man from Badarpur area of Karimganj district is being treated at SMCH. The man named Jamaluddin was a returnee of Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi. He tested COVID19 positive at SMCH on March 31.
Another man identified as Sajibur Rahman from Cachar district tested positive for COVID 19 at Silchar Medical College on April 4. The former BSF jawan also an attendee of the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz. Both of them are getting treatment at SMCH.
During his visit to SMCH, Dr. Sarma was accompanied by Assam eforest minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Silchar MP Dr. rajdeep Roy and several other MLAs of southern Assam.
