Assam COVID19: CRPF officer Ikramul Hussain’s Janaja will be performed in Delhi

GUWAHATI: An officer of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), from Barpeta, Assam had died due to COVID19 complication in New Delhi on 28th April, Tuesday.

The officer named Ikramul Hussain tested COVID-19 positive on April 24. He passed away at Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi.

The body of Ikramul Hussain will not be brought back to Assam and the last rites will be performed at Kotla, New Delhi.

“We are deeply saddened by his untimely death. He was a popular person from our area and was involved in social activities,” said a relative in Barpeta.

“Uncle had called and we know that he has been taken for Janaja to Kotla, New Delhi,” said a close relative of Ikramul Hussain.

Meanwhile, Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal has mourned the death of the Assam man. Taking to Twitter, CM Sonowal expressed his sorrow, “Deeply saddened to learn of the demise of @crpfindia SI Md Ikram Hussain who belonged to Barpeta, Assam. Till his last breath, this brave son of Maa Bharti kept fighting against #COVID19. His undying spirit inspires us to sacrifice everything for the nation. My condolences.”
