Assam: Conspirator Behind edited Picture Of HSLC Geography Question Paper held

PUBLISHED:

The conspirator behind the circulation of an edited picture of the Geography question paper of the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) Class 10 examination was apprehended by Assam police on Saturday.

The arrested individual is a student of Uttaran Academy appearing in this year’s HSLC examination and a resident of Nagaon town, had edited last year’s question paper, replaced last year’s tag with this year, and circulated it among 225 persons through a WhatsApp group he had created.

Earlier today, the HSLC student had shared the edited picture on Whatsapp, which later did spread like wildfire on social media, just ahead of the exam to be held on March 20.

SEBA came out with a quick clarification with Nayanjyoti Sarmah, SEBA’s Controller of Examinations, confirming to News Live that the edited question paper was from the examination held last year and that there was no leak and the said examination will be held as per schedule on Monday (March 20).

Assam Education minister Ranoj Pegu also took to social media and tweeted two images, one that of the original Geography question paper set on 2021 along with the morphed one circulated by Masoom Ali.

An FIR was lodged against the youth and police teams were already on the move to apprehend and arrest him, Pegu said.

“The Geography Question Paper circulated in social media allegedly of leak is fake. SEBA authority has confirmed that it is fake. Instructed concerned officer to lodge FIR in Police station,” he tweeted.
