Assam CM takes stock of preparations for PM Modi’s visit

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday visited the Khanikar Park to take stock of the preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed visit to Dibrugarh on April 28. 

After arriving at Dibrugarh airport, the CM along with cabinet minister Pijush Hazarika and other dignitaries arrived at the Khanikar Park.

Around the main stage, from where the PM would be addressing a public meeting, the chief minister enquired about the preparations being made by the district administration for the event.

Taking to Twitter CM Sarma wrote, “Visited Khanikar Park, Dibrugarh from where Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodiji will inaugurate 7 cancer hospitals & lay foundations for 7 more on April 28. Held meetings with ministers, MLAs, officials & @BJP4Assam”

“Ahead of Adarniya PM Shri @narendramodiji’s visit to Karbi Anglong, reviewed preparations at Loringthepi, the venue for Unity, Peace & Development Rally on April 28. I am hopeful that his visit to this beautiful hill district will contribute hugely to development of the area,” added CM Sarma

It is learned that the prime minister will inaugurate seven cancer hospitals and lay foundations for seven more hospitals in the Dibrugarh city.

Currently, the chief minister has arrived at Loring Thepi village in Karbi Anglong to take stock of the preparations from where the Prime Minister will address a massive rally on the same day.

Massive preparation is going on in that sleepy locality where more than five lakh gatherings are expected to take place.

The Prime Minister will also declare some major developmental projects in Karbi Anglong during his first visit, which are part of the recently signed peace accord between six-armed rebel groups and the Government of India.
