Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal attends Destination North East-2020

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Sunday attended the virtual inauguration of Destination North East-2020 event aimed at boosting tourism in the region. Union home minister Amit Shah inaugurated the event.

The ‘Destination North East-2020’ is a calendar event of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region conceptualised with the objective of taking the northeastern region to other parts of the country and bringing them closer together in order to strengthen national integration.

Owing to the current situation, the festival is being held virtually, making it accessible to everyone who’s interested in being a part of the merriment.

The event is being attended by prominent personalities of various states who have excelled in their fields. The event will take place between September 27 and September 30.

“The 4-day-long virtual fest will go a long way in promoting India’s #NorthEast as a tourist destination, boosting the region’s tourism prospects that has been hit hard by #COVID19,” chief minister Sonowal said in a tweet.
