Assam CM holds discussion with DFOs on protection of Forest lands

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday interacted with the DFOs of Territorial Divisions of Assam Forest Dept and discussed various issues regarding the protection of forest lands and resources of the state.

Forest & Environment Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya, PCCF & HoFF Alka Bhargava, senior officers of the Dept were also present.

Some key directives and decisions-
➡️ Forest Dept to ensure no new encroachment takes place on forest lands in the state while going for systematic eviction.
➡️ Ways must be explored to harness and utilise minerals outside forest areas for earning revenue by the Dept.
➡️ Discussion was held to find ways to economically empower forest village dwellers through sustainable and environment-friendly methods.
➡️ Meetings with DFOs will be held every six months. A meeting with DFOs (Wildlife) will be held soon.
➡️ Several key decisions regarding Forest Dept will be taken in next cabinet meeting.
