This initiative is part of the Assam State Transport Corporation’s (ASTC) efforts to curb carbon emissions and phase out older diesel-run buses. The deployment of these e-buses is expected to transform public transport within the city, offering a cleaner and more environmentally friendly alternative.

The buses have been purchased under the Smart City fund.

These buses, which will serve 13 routes across Guwahati, have been acquired under the Guwahati Smart City Limited project, showcasing the state’s commitment to leveraging smart technology for urban development.

The launch function began at the ASTC Complex at Rupnagar at 10 am and will was also attended by Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya, Guwahati Lok Sabha MP Queen Ojha besides several other ministers and MLAs and senior Transport department officials.
