Assam CM congratulates Lovlina Borgohain on bronze says the ‘entire nation is proud of your phenomenal achievement’

Guwahati: Minutes after boxer Lovlina Borgohain bagged bronze medal for India on Wednesday at the ongoing Tokyo Olympics, Assam Chief  Dr. Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted to congratulate the pugilist.

Taking to his Twitter, CM Sarma wrote, “Congratulations to Assam’s daughter  @LovlinaBorgohaifor bringing home the bronze medal in #Olympics boxing. Your name will be etched in golden letters in the history of Assam. The entire nation is proud of your phenomenal achievement.”

 

Lovlina Borgohain (69kg) brought home India’s second bronze medal at Tokyo Olympics after shuttler PV Sindhu as she went down swinging in her 69kg welterweight semifinal against Busenaz Surmeneli on Wednesday (August 4).

Lovlina became just the second female boxer after MC Mary Kom to win an Olympic bronze medal. Mary Kom had won the 2012 London Olympics bronze.
