Assam CM Attends 35th Statehood Day Of Arunachal Pradesh

Guwahati: The Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday wished the people of Arunachal Pradesh on the occasion of its statehood day and also attended the event.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, the Assam CM wished the state’s people and said, “A land blessed by the rising Sun, snow-capped mountains and lush green valleys watered by sun-dappled rivers, Arunachal Pradesh is home to very warm-hearted people. Greetings to Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri @PemaKhanduBJP and people of the beautiful State on Statehood Day.”


In another tweet, he apprised of attending the main event commemorating Arunachal Pradesh’s 50 years as chief guest.

“Extremely delighted at the warmth bestowed by the people of Arunachal Pradesh upon my arrival at Naharlagun today. Their rich culture manifest at the colourful programme on Statehood Day really impressed me. I wish they continue on the growth trajectory set by @PemaKhanduBJP ji”, CM Tweeted.

 

Arunachal Pradesh gained as a full-fledged State on February 20th, 1987. Earlier the state was named as the North-East Frontier Agency (NEFA) during the British Colonial Rule until 1972. Eventually, on January 20, 1972, it became a Union Territory and named Arunachal Pradesh.

On August 15th, 1975, the constitution of an elected Legislative Assembly and the first ministers of the council were elected. The state got divided into sixteen districts for a proper administration and Itanagar which falls under the Papum Para district is the capital of the state. Actually, the name Itanagar was named under the Ita fort which means the fort of Bricks which was formed in the 14th century.

The state is formed out of Assam and in the west, there is the border of the Bhutan kingdom and in the north falls the Tibetan region of China. In the South-eastern region falls Nagaland and Myanmar and in the southwestern region falls Assam. Mostly the population of the state depends on Agriculture, mainly Jhum cultivation. Other cultivation of cash crops is also done like potatoes. Horticulture crops such as pineapple, apple, oranges, etc are also done.
