Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma extended his greetings to the children on the occasion of children’s day on Monday.

CM Sarma Tweeted, “The future of our great nation rests on the shoulders of our children. Their boundless energy, inquisitiveness & hunger for knowledge will drive Bharat towards becoming a global power. On #ChildrensDay, I wish that every child can realise his or her dreams & aspirations.”

Every year since 1964,  November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day.

The day marks the birth anniversary of independent India’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.

Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was very fond of children, whenever he got free time, he used to spend his time with them. Children also fondly called him ‘Chacha Nehru’, so from the year 1964, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s birthday was celebrated as Children’s Day.
