Assam: Barbers protest demanding support to livelihood

GUWAHATI: As the salons have remained closed due to COVID-19 lockdown, barbers at Kalaigaon in Assam’s Udalguri district registered a protest on Friday demanding support to their livelihood. The owners and workers of the salons under the aegis of Kalaigaon Regional Salons Association staged protest demanding assistance from the government to support their family.

The barbers staged the protest at Kalaigaon maintaining social distance in view of COVID-19 pandemic. The barbers came out with cooking utensils.

“We have been facing hard time because of the lockdown. It has become difficult for us to run our family. We demand assistance from the government,” said a barber.

“Our local MLA should help us at this hour of crisis,” said another barber.
