Assam: 4 lakh Bangladeshi contraceptive pills seized in Dhubri

Guwahati: Around four lakh illegal consignment of Bangladeshi oral contraceptive pills have been seized in western Assam’s Dhubri district.

Dhubri police on Saturday arrested one person in connection with the seizure.

Some miscreants smuggled contraceptive Sukhi tablets from Bangladesh and stored them in one Shamsul Haque’s resident in Newghat, Ironjongla.

Police stated that these contraceptive tables are distributed in the neighbouring country, free of cost and have been smuggled to Dhubri district from time to time.

Shamsul Haque has been allegedly selling Bangladesh’s Sukhi tablets in several districts of Assam for a while, informed the police.

Police apprehended Shamsul Haque’s cousin, Mozammel Haque who was allegedly involved in the business and during the raid, Mozammel managed to escape from the spot.

Dhubri police have continued to interrogate arrested Mozammel Haque at Dhubri Sadar police station said Partha Pratim Gogoi, Officer in charge, Dhubri.
