Assam: 2,294 New COVID-19 Cases, Positivity Rate At 6.41 %

Guwahati: Assam on Saturday (January 29) recorded 2,294 new COVID-19 cases (567 cases less than yesterday’s 2,861 cases).

Among the new cases, the highest number of cases were reported from Kamrup Metro (535), Lakhimpur (143), Darrang (113) and Jorhat (100).

The new cases were detected out of 35,777 tests that were conducted during the day.

The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 6.41% per cent on Saturday.

Meanwhile, 22 new COVID-19 related death were reported in the state during the day.

According to NHM Assam, the fresh fatalities were reported from Kamrup Metro (5), Sivasagar (3), Baksa (2), Barpeta (2), Cachar (2), Karimganj (2), Charaideo (1), Goalpara (1), Jorhat (1), Kamrup Rural (1), Karbi Anglong (1) and Kokrajhar (1).

Further, 5,497 patients recovered on January 29. The COVID-19 recovery rate in the state stands at 94.88%.

Earlier on Friday (January 28), 2,861 COVID-19 cases and 21 deaths were reported in the state including 599 cases from Kamrup Metro district. The test positivity rate in the state was recorded at 6.96% on Friday.

In the last 10 days, Kamrup Metro district has reported 9,586 new COVID-19 cases.

According to data released by NHM, Assam on 29th January, 7,13,685 COVID-19 cases have been reported in the State so far. Out of which, 6,77,128 patients have recovered, while 6,422 patients passed away.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 28,788.

Over 2.77 crore COVID-19 tests have been conducted in the state so far.

As many as 4,12,43,733 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam so far. This includes 2,31,52,904 persons administered with the first dose and 1,79,37,728 administered both doses of the vaccine.

So far, 1,53,101 precautionary dose of Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in Assam.
