Assam: 20,19,921 COVID-19 vaccine doses administered till April 25

GUWAHATI: As many as 20,19,921 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Assam till April 25, stated health minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet.

Out of these doses, 16,04,687 doses were used as first shot. On the other hand, 4,15,234 doses were administered as second shot.

On Sunday, 16,516 people were vaccinated.

“COVID-19 vaccine and coverage status of Assam as on 25.04.21 Total doses administered till date 20,19,921 1st dose 16,04,687 2nd dose 4,15,234 Today Vaccinated 16,516 Total vaccines available in stock 3,35,080,” Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted.

In another tweet, the minister said tracking and testing are two vital strategies to contain the COVID-19. Sarma on Sunday visited the upcoming screening centre at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) to review the arrangements.

“Tracking & testing remain among the vital strategies to contain the #Covid19 pandemic. Happy that our team has worked with supersonic speed to establish GMCH Screening Centre. Visited the site today to take stock of arrangements,” he stated.

The three Oxygen plants at the GMCH are also functional now. The plants were set up with the help of the Government of India. It is expected that the Oxygen plants would bolster Assam’s fight against COVID-19. 

Assam on Sunday recorded 1,844 new COVID-19 cases out of the total 33,674 tests done in the State. The positivity rate for the day was 5.48 per cent. Out of the new cases, 791 cases are from Kamrup Metropolitan district.

On the other hand, 14 persons succumbed to the infection on Sunday.
