Asian Games | Golds in rowing, tennis for India on Day 6

India climbed up the ladder in the medals’ tally at the 18th Asian Games after a good show on the sixth day winning two Gold medals in rowing and tennis and seven medals in all. India won gold in Men’s Quadruple Sculls with the team comprising Sawarn Singh, Dattu Bhoknal, Om Prakash and Sukhmeet Singh taking the top medal while Rohan Bopanna & Divij Sharan clinched the Gold medal in Men’s Tennis Doubles event.

Bopanna-Divij Sharan outclassed Kazakhstan’s Aleksandar Bublik and Denis Yevseyv 6-3, 6-4.

After the men’s kabbadi team lost to Iran, the women’s team also suffered a heartbreaking loss in the final as they went down to the same opponent in the final to settle for silver.

Shooter Heena Sidhu won the bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event. Prajnesh Gunneswaran also had to settle for bronze after losing his men’s tennis singles semi-final.

The biggest disappointments came in badminton after both HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth losing their respective Round of 32 Men’s Singles matches.

Gymnast Dipa Karmakar finished a disappointing fifth in the women’s balance beam final.
