Arunachal Pradesh may soon get a second medical college in Namsai

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh may soon get its second medical college in Namsai district. According to officials from the state health department, the Centre has assured to set up one more medical college in Arunachal, officials told PTI. On Tuesday, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu also met Mansukh Mandaviya.

At present, the Northeastern state has only one medical college — Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) at Naharlagun, near Itanagar.

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya gave the assurance to a team led by state’s Health and Family Welfare Minister Alo Libang who called on him in New Delhi on Monday, they said. Libang, who was accompanied by Lok Sabha member Tapir Gao and Namsai MLA Chau Zingnu Namchoom, also discussed the COVID-19 situation in the state and the strategy to fight the pandemic.
