Arrested BDF leader Pradip Dutta Roy rushed to SMCH

Guwahati: Barak Democratic Front (BDF) Pradip Dutta Roy was rushed to the Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) after he complained of severe chest pain in the mid-night hours.

He was brought to SMCH by the jail authorities at around 2 am.

The doctors at the medical college provided Roy necessary treatment. However, he was denied admission in the hospital.

Later, he was shifted back to jail after being discharged from the hospital.

Roy was arrested by the Cachar police after 8 hours of interrogation at the office of the Deputy Superintendent of Police on Saturday evening.

He was summoned by the Cachar police for issuing an ultimatum of 48 hours to replace an Assamese hoarding with a Bengali one.

According to reports, Pradip Dutta Roy has been arrested against the Silchar Police Station Case No.4158/2021 lodged by Hindu Yuva Parishad member Ranju Nath.

Roy has been booked under section 153(A)/295/295(A)/124/506/505 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
